This neighborhood surrounding the University of Texas to the northwest and west is also known as West Campus. It is filled with students and local businesses that cater to students, faculty, and others associated with the university. The area is youthful and energetic, with a wide variety of hole-in-the-wall shops and unique experiences.

Housing in this area is mostly condominiums and apartments with some small single-family homes. Many bus lines work their way through this part of the city along Guadalupe Street, also known as "The Drag", to bring students and Austinites alike to their favorite local cafe, bar, or to hear some great live music.

Just to the south of this neighborhood is Downtown Austin and South Austin.
