Anderson Mill is a neighborhood located in northwest Austin close to highways 620 and 183 and toll roads 183A and 45. Anderson Mill is located in both Travis and Williamson counties.
Many homes in this area were built in the 70's and 80's, but there are some being built today. There are over 60 acres of parks, over 6 miles of hike & bike trails, two heated swimming pools that offer recreational and competitive aquatic programs year round, eight lighted tennis courts, a Community Center, as well as a Senior Center. There are free Concerts in the Park, Movies in the Park and Movies at the Pool during the Summers. The parks have sand volleyball courts, basketball courts, an outdoor racquetball court and a fitness center.
The neighborhood is named after Thomas Anderson who came to Texas in the late 1850's and built a mill in the 1860's, originally for gunpowder and converted into a gristmill after the war. The area was included in a municipal utility district (MUD) in 1973.
Neighborhood schools are part of the nationally acclaimed Round Rock Independent School District. Anderson Mill Elementary, Grisham Middle School and Westwood High School have all been named International Baccalaureate (IB) schools.
